THE LATE PLOUGHING MATCH.
To the Editor of the Waiiuiupa Daily
Sir—Understanding that some dissatisfaction exists regarding our decision with respect to the prizes awarded in the double-furrow class at the late Ploughing Match, we, the judges, beg to state a few words in explanation. All the ploughmen had left their respective ridges before either of us were on the ground. We carefully examined defects and compared work, and in the double-furrow class awarded the first prize to the best ploughed ridge, being numbered 1 on the field peg, the second to 'No. 3 and the [third to No. 4. We were, of course, totally unacquainted with the names corresponding to the field numbers. If by any clerical error the wrong names should have been affixed to the numbers after wc had given our decision to the stewards, we shall feel obliged if the same will be rectified, so as to exonerate us from any liability to censure on tho part of those concerned.—We are, &c, Walter Morrisox, A. Borsett.
