WILSONE, 207 Returning Officer. mO THE MUNICIPAL ELECTORS OF I MASTERTON,
Ladies and Gentlemen— Voters to become a Candidate for the vacant seat in the Uorouli Council, I embrace this opportunity of stating thus publicly my views on some of the principal topics which will doubtless come before the Council in a short time; and having a somewhat considerable stake in Masterton, I am, when studying the interests of the ratepayers generally, at the same time studying my own. If elected, my first endeavors will bo to have the drainage of the town thoroughly considered, With the increasing number of streets now being made, I think it is fully time that this important sanitary moasure should be taken up in earnest. With regard to financial matters, I am of opinion that considerable alterations can be made with great advantage in the Borough. Amongst other matters, I would strongly advocate the raising of a sufficient loiu to be expended on necessary public work thereby developing the resources of what must be considered the "coining" inland town of the North Idand, There exists at the present time tho greatest necessity for the immediate improvement of the main road at Kuripuni, as its present unsafe condition is a standing disgrace to our Borough. This is one of tho many cases which require prenpt cuaiKderation at the hands of the Council I am also in favor of employing skilled professional assistance for tho conduct of public works and on legal questions affecting tho Council as I cannot but think that the gratuitous services of amateur lawyers and engineers prove in most caw to be but "a penny wse and pound fooli h" pMoeeding, I returned, I pledge myself to devote my best endeavors to the welfare of the public, and to do my share towards upholding the dignity of the Council I beg to remain, Ladies and Gentlemen, J.
