mO THE MUNICIPAL KLECTOKS OF 1 MASTEBTON. Ladies axd GentlemenHaving acceded to the wishes of many Voters to become a Candidate for the vacant seat in the Borouh Council, I embrace this opportunity oi stating thus publicly my views on some of the principal topics which will doubtless come before the Council in a short time; and having a somewhat considerable stake in Mastcrton, I am, when studying the interests of she ratepayers generally, at the same time studying my own. If elected, my first endeavors will be to have the drainage of the town thoroughly considered, With the increasing number of streets now being made, I think it is fully time that this important sanitary measure should be taken up in earnest. With regard to financial matters, I am of opinion that considerable alterations can be made with great advantage in the Borough. Amongst other matters, I would strongly advocate the raising ot a sutlicieiit loan to be expended on necessary public works, thereby developing the resources of what must he considered the "coming" inland town of the North Island. There exists at the present time the greatest necessity for the immediate improvement of the main road at Kuripuni, as its present unsafe condition is a standing disgrace to our Borough. This is one of the many cases which require prompt consideration at the hands of the Council, I am also in favor of employing skilled professional assistance for the conduct of public works and on legal questions affecting the Council, as I cannot but think that the gratuitous cervices of amateur lawyers and engineers prove in most cases to be but "a penny wise and pound foolish" proceeding. best endeavors to the welfare of the public, aid to do my share towards upholding the dignity of the Council.
