EFFECTS CAUSED BY THE MOON.
Some years ago we published the following extract from a very rare old work in ourpossession, and two persons afterwards informed us that they had tried the experiment, and found that the moon did exercise the most powerful influence aa therein stated. We have been asked now to re-publish it for general information, which we do without any responsibility: To prove the wonderful occult power, which the" empreßs of the night" possesses over the vegetable creation, P r °oii as follows" Takeany given quantity? common peas, keeping them separate. Then on any spot of ground fit for vegetation, when the season approaches for sowing them, sow the contents of the first parcel on the second day of the new moon; the second parcel sow near the same spot on the first or second day of the second quarter; the third parcel sow on the second or third day before the full moon ; and lastly sow the fourth parcel on the second or third day . before the moon is out. Now the first parcel sown under the new moon, will grow very fast, blossom most beautifully, but will not bear fruit. Tho second will blossom and bear very little The third parcel will not only blossom beautifully, but will bear fruit in aboundanco, and tho fourth and last parcel will scarcely rise from the ground. Likewise all fruit trees set at the nev,' moon blossom, but neven bear fruit; while all others set three days before the full bear abundantly. And in pruning the trees the sarno effect takes place, for a tree pruning at the new moon will shoot forth branches, but unbearable and if pruned at the full they will be prolific.' —Nelson Colonist.
