LIVE INSECTS FOR ORNAMENTS.
Since the story'of the lady who wears a live beetle as an ornament has been fully verified, may we not soon expect to read in the fashionable intelligence some such description as this"At Lady Insect's ball costume the gther night a, lady repve : sonted Entomoltify.' Her costume-con- ■ sißted of live insects of: all kinds. The buttons of her tunic were black beetles, with pins stuck through them, and their wriggles produced a charming effect. The ear ornaments were long-legged spiders, and the bodice was; spangled with moneyspinners. Stag-beetles formed the tiara, and bracelets of caterpillars encircled the lady's arms. As she moved among the dancers she appeared all crawls and squirms, and the effect was truly enchanting. Lord Doodlo wore a daddylong-legs as a scarf pin. Another costume was noticeable from the employment of impaled gnats as a fringe; while yet anothef&iisplayedsome garden spiders, which, placed within partial reach of some imprisoned flies, caused great amusement through thoir efforts to catch the lilies, and the dress was considered quite a success, Lizards hung by their tails, small vipers worn as bracelets. and necklets, and beetles of every kind were observable, so that the brilliant saloon seemed .to crawl rather than walk. .Black beetles are very fashionable, The bakers now, drive a roaring trade with these beautiful little creatures. Snails are likely to be in vogue, aud some Parisian elegantes are beginning to wear rattlesnakes.
