On Saturday next, the Queen's Birthday, the Wairakava Daily will not bo published. There are to be rural sports at Fcatherston on the Queen's Birthday. A meeting of the Finance Committee of County West will be held at Carterton on Friday evening next, Wo have to report that John Dishor, of Taueru, storekeeper, and Carl Moeller, of Masterton, carpenter, have filed their schedules, The meeting of Masterton Rifles is on Friday next, not Monday, as was inadvertently stated in our local columns yesteday, In the hall of tho Masterton Hospital now hangs a handsome English clock, presented to that institution by Mr A, Bisli. It is reported that the Kaitara School will again be re-opened, a successor having been found for its lite teacher, Mr Huntley. The adjourned Ploughing Match meeting at Tauherenikau was not suflicient-ly well attended on Monday last to enable the committee to get to work, It was further adjourned till this day week. An inquest on tho late fire in Bentley--street will be held this morning by the District Coroner. Tho inquiry will be merely formal, as no fresh facta in connection with the origin of the fire are expected to be elicited. <
