It is probable that tho Queen's Birthday will be celebrated here on Monday, notwithstanding the inability of the Government to alter the day, as Saturday is market day, and the Mayor has received a requisition numerously signed to hold the holiday on Monday,
An adjourned meeting of the unemployed was hold tins evening in front of the Post- , office. Resolutions were read which are to be forwarded to the Minister of Public Works,' asking tlmt certain authorised public works might be proceeeed with, The Mayor, who was present, said ho would bring the matter before the City Council, and see if arrangements could be made between it and the Sydenham Council to find temporary employment for some of the men, fit was also resolved to requisition the Maylr to call a public meeting of the unemployed in one of the halls in the city.
