MEETINGS IN BANKRUPTCY.
We reprint from the Times the following Black List I. .7. SALMON. The adjourned meeting of creditors of Isaac J. Salmon, of Wellington, woodturner, lapsed for want of a quorum. J. GOXDIE. The first meeting of creditors in the above estate took place yesterday, The statement filed by the debtor showed his liabilities to bo L 125, and his assets nil. Mr Baker was elected trvstee. • E. M. TAYLOIt. A meeting of creditors of Edward M. Taylor, of Kaiwarra, storekeeper, took place yesterday. Mr Caleb Whitehead was appointed tausteo, and a guarantee given by Mr G. Revalls, of Kaiwrrra, of lis in the pound was accepted. JONAS IIAUU, A meeting of the creditors of Jonas Bach, of Wellington, tobacconist, was held yesterday. The debtor's statement showed his liabilities to be L 985 Bs, and his assets to be L 589 Ills, The assets comprised an accommodation bill io Mr T. J, Mountain for L3lllos, and the lease of two shops- one in Manners-street and the other in Lambton quay. The available assets arc about LIOO.
Mr T. K. Macdonald examined the debtor oil oath, who stated that he had begun business in Wellington about fifteen months ago with about L 75, and had kept 110 books; that lie had put down his takings on a slate, and could not be sure of knowing the names of creditors who had bought goods from him. He accounted for the loss by having speculated. He had purchased the booths at the athletic sports for L 54, and there was L2O expenses, The proceeds only brought Ll9, thereby making a deficiency of L 55. He had also purchased some of the booths at the races np country, and had people ■in his employ who ho thought had robbed him. He refused to give the name of the lady to whom lie gave a diamond ring and brooch ; aud upon being pressed by the chairman for her name, he said lie would give the name to the trustee after the meeting.
Several of the creditors expressed themselves very strongly with regard to the loose manner in which Mr Bach had carried on his business. THOMAS EVANS. A meeting of the creditors of Thomas Evans, of Carterton, Wairarapa, hotelkeeper, took place yesterday for tho pur-
pose of assenting to a deed of arrangement iiled by the debtor. After a good deal of discussion it was resolved that the meeting should adjourn for a fortnight, and in the meantime the trustees should make, inquiries as to Mr Evans' affairs, EDDIE AND JACK. A meeting of the creditors of Messrs Eddie and Jack, bottlers, Wellington, was held yesterday. It was shown that the estate was solvent, and that the firm was doing a capital business. Tho creditors resolved that Mr Jack should carry on tho business under the supervision of Messrs C. J. Capper and J. E. Nathan. NEW INSOLVENTS. Messrs J. W. Noman, of Wellington, carter; William Isaac, of Wellington, baker; Nathan John Isaacs, of Wellington, merchant; James Morton, of Wellington, grocer; and Joe Dransfiold, of Wellington, merchant, have filed deeds of assignment, with their creditors.
