ORDINATION CEREMONY AT WAIHJNGA.
The ordination of the Rev W, Panton Brown took place at Waihenga on Tuesday last. The steady downpour of rain in the early part of the day threatened to prevent the proceedings. However about 1 o'clock the weather cleared up somewhat, and the little church was well filled before the close of the ceremony. The Rev J. Patterson preached in his wellknown style from the words, " Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." At the conclusion of the sermon, he proceeded to put the usual questions to Mr Brown, to which he assented The Presbytery having formally declared Mr Brown the minister for the Lower Valley Church, the Rev 0. S. Ogg, of Wellington, delivered a masterly and pointed address, in which ho very' clearly and forcibly pointed out the various duties and obligations of a Christain minister. The Eev Mr McKce then in a few welltimed words addressed the people, pointing but their duties towards, their minister, and expressed a hope that they would not be wanting in the support of their minister, He not only urged upon them the duty of providing their minister with that material assistance which is necessary for the maintenance of tho Church, but also requested them to encourage their minister by their hearty their sympathy and their prayers. This part of the service being over, the congregation adjourned to the school-house, wlioro abundant provision had been prepared by the ladies of the district; After having done ample justice to. the. good things provided, the meeting dispersed; ali parties expressing a hope that Mr Brown would find pleasure and success in his new field of labor,
