FRACAS IN A HOTEL.
[From the Chronicle.] There was a row on last night in one of the public rooms of the Empire Hotel. One of the proprietors of the Evening Post—Mr Henry Blundell—and some friends were present. So, also, was Councillor Fisher and Borne gentlemen. A general conversation resulted in an altercation betwen tho newspaper proprietor and the Councillor. Councillor Fisher had been unfairly treated by the Evening Post which had refused to insert a perfectly quiet, modest letter, and misre-j presented its contents. Tho Councillor had written to the other newspapers sliom ing up this unfair treatment. This maJ| Mr Henry Blundell angry; so when Sm two gentlemen met in the Empiro, 183k got to words, there was some strong iljH used. Ultimately, Mr Henry BljflßK called Councillor Fisher a liar, anjffiffl something else—which was "jWfflflrf CouneillorFisher's retaliation effective, and decisive. He tfflH you summons me if I strike yofflHfflß replied Mr Blundell, " I will BaHMBB Councillor Fisher said: and instantly shot out hijSHHHHj straight from the shoulder, tlHM|jjH« ing effect on the right jaw of IVBffiHE who was iiißtantly projected SraHHg along the room, and finally foSHHI ing place under the table. It jM| knock-down blow. This finSBHB fracas. Apparently, the knocffiSH man had no stomach for any morSHH One or two things have been by this inexpressibly sad occuHH These arc—(l.) That Councillor 9H can knock a man down. (2.) ThaHR Henry Blundell's language is as his pluck and fists are weak, The nSH of the whole business is that no inl ahpuld call anothor approbrioua nain| unless fully prepared for the possible coH sequences; and that folks who can't figlS should always remember the advice of a celebrated pugilist, " that the best guard for the head is to keep a civil tongue in it."
