EDUCATION BOARD.
(Neio Zealand Times). Wednesday, Makch 12. A meeting of the Education Board was held at 11.16. a.m. Present—The Chairman (Hon 0. J. Pharazyn), Messrs, Hutchison and Toomath, Archdeacon Stock, and the Secretaiy (Mr Lee). , The minutes of the previous meeting wero read and confirmed. ELECTION OF MEJIBEES,
The papers received from tho school committees showed—For Rev, J. Patefc son, 21; Hon 0. J. Pharazyn, 1(* Archdeacon Stock, 14; W. H. Levin, 14, W, A, Fitzherbert, 11; Jonas Woodward, B; Rev T, Fancourt, i ; Rev R, J, Thorpe, 2, The voting for Archdeacon Stock and Mr Levin being equal, the Board decided in favor of Archdeacon Stock. GREYTOWN SCHOOL. Tho following report from the committee in the case of Mr Wakelin was) brought up and adopted" Tho committee have had three meetings on the subject, and have decided to recommend tho following resolution for the adoption of the Board: ( That the Greytown committee 'be at once consulted as to whether it is in their opinion desirable to give Mr Wakelin three months' salary from March, in lieu of notice of removal from the school, so that the Rev Mr Porritt may take charge. It being understood that Mr Wakelin will 1)» eligible for another situation under the Board when a suitable one can be found for him, as tho removal will not be considered in any way te reflect on tho high and studious character of Mr Wakelin.' The Greytown school committee concur in the above, so that there is no obstacle to the course suggested, if the members think fit." Mr Toomath considered the report inconsistent, and dissented from the other members of the committee. The Inspector informed the Board, in answer to a question, that the school had retrogaded. He considered this due to errors of judgment on the part of Mr Wakelin, During a conversation which ensued it was mentioned that Mr Wakelin had lately taken a B. A, degree. doherty's case. Taxed costs in this case, from Messrs Brandon and Son, were brought before tho Board. The taxation had brought down the costs by £l2 6s 4d., the amount of the bill before the Board being £207 2s, 4d, Mr Barton had also sent in a bill for £5012s Bd., costs in the Court of Appeal; but tho bill for the rest of his costs had not yet come in. _ It was decided, after a short conversation, to pospone consideration of the matter untill all the bills of costs had been received. SUPERVISOR. Mr Lee received the authorisation of the Board to act as supervisor, under the Education Department, in the March examinations.
