An amusing incident took place to-night at a nicbtiiig of tlio Soutli Dunedin, St. Kilda and Cavetsham municipalities, held for tlio purpose of electing the representa- , tivo for tlio Harbor Board. A desperate effort lias been mado in some quarters to securo .the post of honor for Mr David Pi'oudfoot. This candidato provoked a stroll" opposition, and" to-night 011 the vote being taken it was found that thirteen were 111 favor of Proudfoot and a like number for tlio opposition candidate, Bridgeman, tlio Mayor of South Dunedin, was in the'chair, and said that he would <-; not take thcresponsibility, but would bo guided byrat tossing of a shilling. As tho result orwtoss was against Proudfoot, tlio casting voto was given to Bridgeman, who was accordingly elected.
