The first saddling hell will ring at 11 a.m,; first race to start 11,30—sharp, ■ Races to be run under the Wairarapa Jockey Club Rules. General entries and nominations for Handicaps to be made to the Secretary at the Rising Sua Hotel, Greytown, between tho hours of G and 8 p.m. on Saturday, February Ist, 1879, or by letter bearing postmark of that or earlier date. All entries to bo accompanied with names and ages of horses, and colors of riders. No entry will bo accepted unless accompanied with amount of entrance moncv. Weights for all Handicaps will bo declared on Saturday, Bth February, 1879, at 9 p.m., at the Rising Sun Hotel, Greytown. jicceptances for the Hurdle Handicap aud W. J. C. Handicap to be given to the Secretary on the course before 5 p.m. on the first day of the races, and for the District Handicap a quarter of an hour after the W.J.C. Handicap is run. The Ladies Purse will be confined strictly to gentleman riders, and in order to carry out this rule, owners of horses entered in this race will be required to furnish the Secretary with tho names of their riders at least half-an-hour before the race, for the approval of the Stewards. That suilicient accommodation may be provided and catalogues prepared, when forwarding the entry the owner is requested to signify whether tho sheep are tobc auctioned, and by whom, also whether they are to be sold singly or in pairs of live and ten. The attention of buyers, sellers, and auctioneers is specially directed to the great facilities which these commodious solo yards offer for the supply of the Wellington and local meat markets. The sales will be conducted by auctioneers nominated by vendors, and will commence at noon on the day above stated, and as no cattle can be permitted to be yarded after 11 o'clock on the day of sale, early applications for room is necessary.
