Waimate A. and P. Association.
A general meeting of the Association was held on Saturday, present—Mr H. E. McGowan (chair) and 23 members. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed.
The following new members were elected :—Messrs R. Rickman, G. H. Graham, M. Leonard, S. Medlicott. In the absence ot Mr Meredith, the chairman moved the motion standing in his name, re the constitution of a quorum, and it was resolved that ths mattar be left in the hands of the committee, to submit any alteration they deem necessary to the annual meeting.
A circular was received from Sir J. G. Ward, stating that the by-law with reference to the restriction of grain in sacks to 2001 b weight woul d come into ioroe on February Ist. He wished to ascertain the quantity of last year's crop still in store or in the hands of farmers, pacKed in sacks weighing over 2001 b, in order that he oould be in a position to determine whethei the provisions of tbe bye-law might be waived for a period sufficient to allow those who have not alreany disposed of their last season’s grain to have it carried to market under the existing regulations. The secretary was instructed to advertise to that effect in the local papers. A letter was received from tbe Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Association asking the co-operation of this Association in urging the Government to reconsider their decision with regaid to the stoppage of the construction of sterilising works at Auckland and the Bluff. It was resolved that the secretary write to the Government impressing upon them the necessity o’f erecting sterilising works. It was decided that the Association again compete in the County Bay exhibition at the Dunedin Winter Bliow, und that a room be obtained for the storing exhibits for the Waimate Bay. A sub-committee consisting of the president, vice-president, and Messrs. Hayes, P. Studholme, Orbell, Francis, Mitchell and the secretary, with power to add to their number, was appointed for collecting exhibits. “ She said if any man kissed her without warning she’d scream for her father.” ‘ What did yon do 2" “I warned her.”
