Wheat—There is still a fairly good enquiry for prime lines, and prices remain firm at late quotations. We quote prime Tuscan (scarce) 3s 4 l-2d to 3s sa. prime Velvet and Redohaff 3s 3d to 3s 4d. Oats—The demand is still very strong, but prices show no alteration on the rates mentioned in our last.. We quote prime short kinds Is 7d to Is Bd, prime Dapish Is 5 l-2d to Is 6dSTUDHOLME SALE. Messrs Guinness aud LeCren, Ltd., report that there was an exceptionally good sale at Studholme yesterday, and there was a large number of farmers and buyers present. The yarding of cattle was not as large as usual, but prices were bn a whole slightly better than last sale. About 3000 sheep were penned and almost every lot was sold under the hammer at very satisfactory prices, lhe following were some of the prices ob**Cattle—Fat heifers £4 2s bd, £5 2s 6d to £5 14a; 3 year steers £5 6s, 2 year do. £2 18s, calves 12s, dry cows £37s6d, Sheep—Fat lambs 16s 4d, 16s sd, 17s t» 17s Id; store lambs 14s'5d, 15s 4d to 15s lid; cull lambs 9s, fat ewes 16s 9d, 4 and 6-tooth ewes 19s lid to 22s 4d, f.m. ewes and lambs, 12s 9d to 15s od. WAIHAO DOWNS CLEARING SALE. Guinness and LeCren Ltd., report that the clearing sale held at Waihao Downs on Thursday, on account of J. F. Douglai Esq. was a record one, in point of attendance, buyers from all parts of Otago and Canterbury being present. The National Mortgage and Agency Coy, and Dalgety and Coy, were the other firms represented, and the auctioneers put through nearly 900 lots during the day. They were’ably assisted by Mr Douglas and his manager Mr Fairiey, who had ■ll the implement* and sundries laid out in fine order before'the sale started. Every attention was paid to the visitors by Mr Douglas, who has long been noted forth* hospitality he has always extended to anyone visiting the estate. Excellent prices were the order of the day, and the exceptional quality of the horses elicited very keen competition. The principal buyers were Mr E. Rich, aide, the purchaser of the property, and tho trustees of the Mount Royal estate. The top price for draught horees was £BO, paid for the 4 year o’d bay mare •• Madam,” and the 6 year old bay mare ’ ••Lncy" fetched £79, her purchaser bring Mr E. Richards. The 8 year oid < black mare - bell” £6B, aged bay mare « Missis” £62, chestnut mare “ Nancy £64l3year old mare “Liz” £62, and 7 war old mare - Violet” £6O; geldings fold up to £6O for the 6 year old "Lyon,”and the 4 year old Fnnce £57. All the other draughts sold well upto these figures, and the unbroken horses were also keenly competed for. The first of the light horses to be offered was the imported hackney Btallion, Defender 11, the buyer being Mr Mitchell ; tne pair of grey carriage horses being secured by the same owner at /o guineas. The other pair of bays sold at 62 guineas, and the ponies at £l7, £lO and £l4 19s. All the light horses realised good prices and ev ked spirited bidand pigs also sold well. Tn farm implements the following are some ot the prises — M.H. binder £29 and £27, McCormick binder £lO, broadcast sower *2O. Cambridge rollers £l4 10s and £l2loa, discs £9, cultivator £B, ridgers £U 5s and ~£B, D.F. plows £l4 10s, £ll 7s 6d and £5, waggons £l2 10s, *ll and £lO, dray with turnip cutter £l5 10s M.H- drill £l4 10 and £l4, dray *ll, tip-dray £9 ss, engine aud digester *25, coach £2B, 4-wheeled dog cart £3B, £l2, surveyor’s fnstrumentß XIU» Furniture was in great demand and keenly competed for.
