3. —ln the Lower Waihao Water Supply Maintenance Account the “ Deposit on Appeal Case Council v. A. J. McLean £100,” is incorrectly shown as expenditure. 4. The Land Fund Account, being the account of the Third and 4th Part which the Council re ceives for Roadmaking of the annual payments arising from lands held on deferred payment and perpetual lease, is charged to the amount of £36 Is 8d taken by the Council for its supervision of the expenditure of the Fund, though the County Engineer is paid by a fixed salary. 5. Transfers are entered in the Balance-sheet as to the County Fund instead of the General Account. They are transfers from one to another of the accounts of that Fund. J. K. Carrington, White Rock Creek bridges, Government Grant ... 359 4 5 Skevington road Government Grant ... 50 7 0 2.—The special rates which are made, and which it was necessary to levy, over portions of the District to secure the Lower Waihao Water Supply Loan and the Lower Pareora Water Supply Loan, were not collected to a sufficient amount to pay the interest thereon ; and the interest account of each -of these Loans was overdrawn at the Bank by more than there was to anticipate of the special rate levied up to, and uncollected at, the close of the year, — The Lower Waihao Water Supply Loan by £ll9 5s 2d more, The Lower Pareora Water Supply Loan by £6 0s 9d more. Then other charges are made to these interest accounts than for interest paid on the loans, —the only charge authorised by Section 177.
