The sexmd wool .ale of the Beacon was held here to-day, when a total of 9097 . bales wers offered, the largest quantity yet brought under the hammer at a local . sale. There was al ho a record of foreign buyers, but in sympathy with latest London advices and .he fact that reserve values were very high, bidding at first was slack. Matters improved, however, as the sale progressed, and although a number of lots were passed in, the majority of these were afterwards quitted at satisfactory prices, although on the whole prices ruled from (d to Id less than at the December sale. There was a good demand for lambs’ wool, which showed ajd rise. For much of the wool howexer, December rates were fully maintained.
