Horticultural Society.
A committee meeting was held on Tuesday evening. In the absence of the president Mr W. Hargreaves was voted to the chair. There were also present Messrs D. A. Morgan, G. Akhurst, Howard, Ravenhall, Nicol, Dean, W. M. Hynam, M. Smith and 0. A. Wilson, Correspondence was read from judges for the forthcoming show. The judges and stewards are : Judges: Flowers, fruit and vegetables— Messrs G. Knowles and A. Buzan. Special prizes—MrC. E. Bremner. Extra exhibits—Messrs Symon, Miller and Mitchell. Poultry and pigeons Messrs Luscombe and one to be determined. Sewing and fancy work—Mesdames Studholme, Manchester and Hayes. Stewards; Pot plants —Messrs S. J. Adams and O. Akhurst. Out flowers—Messrs Francis and Hargreaves. Fruit and vegetables Messrs Nicol and Nind. Extra exhibits Messrs D. A. Morgan and C. A. Wilson. Poultry—Messrs Saunders and Ravenhall. Sewing and fancy work —Mr McGowan and Rev. McKenzie Gibson. Staging committee—Messrs Nicol and G. Akhurst. The Dunedin Horticultural Society wrote proposing to arrange a competition for the best exhibit of flowers, plants, fruits, vegetables, etc., at their autumn show on March 4th. The competition is limited to Horticultural Societies outside Dunedin. It was decided to settle the matter after the Waimate society’s show. After discussion it was decided that, on account of the general backwardness of the season, the show be postponed' a fortnight and be held on the 29th January. It was decided to the Band to play on the same terms as last year The next meeting was fixed for Tuesday, December 29th
