Waimate Racing Club.

A meeting of the Waimate Racing Club was held on Saturday afternoon, Mr E. C. Studholme presiding over a fair attendance. The question of handicapper was discussed at length, and it was resolved to ask Mr Henrys, of Ohristchurch, to act for the hack races and Mr Brinkman for the trotting events. The resignation of Mr Mathias as treasurer wan accepted with regret, and it was resolved to write to Mr Mathias conveying the club's thanks for his past services. Mr N. Francis was_ elected treasurer; Mr J. F. Quinh fcotalisator clerk. On the motion of Messrs J. Freeman and H. Studholme it was decided to put a district welter race in place of the Flying Handicap. Mr Twomey's motion for a Hurdlo Race was not seconded. The stakes wore fixed at £2O and £2, and the distance six furlongs. The stakes in St. Patrick's Handicap were reduced from £6O to £SO. The Two Mile Trot was altered to one and a-half miles. The nomination and acceptance fees for both trotting events were fixed at \os and sb.

Messrs J. F. .Douglas and T. 8. Medlicott wore oioctod members of the club.

It was docidod to ask the Railway Department io run special trains, leaving Timaru and Oamaru about i) a.m., on St Patrick's Day.
