LAND SALE.

Messrs Guinness and LeCien. Ltd., report having sold by public auction at Waimate on Saturday Mr Jno. Hopkins farm at Willowbridge, containing 224 acres, to Messrs Fletcher Bros., at £3O per acre. The auctioneers have been instructed by Mr Hopkins to hold a clearing Bale of stock and plant before Christmas. WOOL SALES. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cable m snage from the Agent-General, dated London, November 26th : "The wool sales have commenced. There is great competition and a large number of buyers. The Continent is buying crossbreds largely. An advance of Id per lb has been established in all grades ot croasbreds, and £d per lb in fine merinos." TIMARU GRAIN MARKETS. Wheat easily maintained the values noted last week. Velvet finds a ready sale at 4s 7d per bushel, Tuscan and Red Chaff selling at 4s 5d to 4s 6d per bushel. With the increase in the price of flour these prices are expected to increase immediately. In oats a good business has been done during the past week, though supplies are now in small compass. An average quotation for mixed lines is 2s but good Duns hare been disposed of at up to 2s 9d, f.o.b. Feed barley is worth 3s 4d per bushel. Flour is now quoted here at £l2 per ton in sacks, bran and pollard £7 per ton. SATURDAY SALE. Messrs Guinness and LeUren report that at their weekly auction on Saturday last there was an extra large entry of pigs and poultry, and prices obtained were quite in keeping with recent sales. The following are a few of the prices obtained:— Piga—Suckers and wevners from. 10s to 14s, stores from 15s to 24s 6d. Horses—One trap gelding £l4 10a. Poultry—Roosters 2s 2d to 3s per pair, hens 2s 2d to 2* 8d ; ducks 3s 6d per pair. Potatoes—Best Derwents from 8s to 8s 6d, medium sorts from 5s 6d to 7* 61. Produce—Barley lis per sack ; fowl wheat 10s to 13s 6d. There is a good demand tor fowl wheat at present. CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS Chbistchorch, November 29. The local wheat market has made a rapid advance during the past week, in consequence of the general enquiry and the small quantity there is offering. The millers are again in the market, but stocks in growers' hands are either in small compass or holders are not anxious to sell at present Pearl is now worth 4s 7d to 4s Bd, an 1 Hunter's and Tuscan 4s 6d to 4s 7d, at country stations, and it is said that offers above these figures have been refused by Bellers. The following are current prices paid to farmers, and free of commission, except where otherwise specified : Wheat—Hunter's an! Tuscan, 4s 7d to 4s 8d; Pearl, 4a 6d to 4s 7d, at country stations, according to diatanoe f omport. Oats (nominal)— Long feed, 2s 5d to 2« 6d ; short feed, 2s 6d to 2s 7d ; milling Canadians, '2s 7d to 2s Bd, at country stations. Barley (nominal)—Prime, 3s ; feed, 7d, at country stations. Flour (Millers' quotations)—Roller £ll per ton.
