Mothers' Union.

Afc a meeting of tbe Waimato branch of this union, held in St. Augustine's schoolroom on Wednesday last, a letter was read from the Rev A. Morrison, hon. secretary to tho Plebiscite Committee, to Mrs I MuKenzie Gibson, hon. secretary to the Mother's Union. In it he said, " I hereby bog to convey to you the following figures as the result of the Plebiscite: Yes, 626; No, 18; informal, 2; declined to vote, a certain number, not many. This result is highly encouraging to our committee, and I am sure will be so to the Mothers' Union. I beg to send you also a copy of a resolution passed at a meeting of the Plebiscite Committee, held on November 7 : ' That the very cordial thanks of the committee bo given to the Mothers' Union, acd especially to Mrs McKenzie Gibson, its secretary, for the most helpful services which its members have so willingly given in carrying out the Plebiscite of Waimate and neighbourhood.' " The President, Mrs M. Studholme, mentioned that by the laafc annual report the membership of the Mothers' Union now numbered 179,000. Branches are being established in Japan at Kobe and Yokohama. In Hong Kong the branch of Chinese women numbered 60. In Bermuda, out of a branch of 43 members, 26 are coloured women. In Africa the formation of branches is going on, and will be established when the state of the country permits. In Western Equatorial Africa members' cards and leaflets were being translated into the Yorgba ianguage. A branch is also being formed in Madagascar.
