Land Ballot.

Yesterday the ballot for the workmen's homes at Waikakahi took place in the Courthouse. The ballot was conducted by Mr Humphries, Commissioner of Crown Lands, assisted by Messrs Hunter and Anderson, officers of the Department. Messrs A. C. Pringle and Joseph Sealey, members of the Land Board, were present. There was a good number of people in Court, and on the invitation of the Commissioner Messrs D. R. Buckingham and F. Pelvin were appointed scrutineers. The Commissioner announced that there were 46 applications, of which four were rejected—two because they already had sufficient land, and two because they did not put in an appearance. Following arc the results of the ballot :

No. 12, 15a, to Henry Miles. No. 13, 15a, to Duncan McTaggart. No. 14, 10a, to Mary Hanley. No. 15, 10a, to Robert Anderson. No. 16, 10a, to John Meagher. No. 17, 10a, to Alexander Dixon. No. 18, 10a, to John McLean. No. 19, 15a, to Ellen Sullivan. No. 20, 16a, to Charles Boyce. On the motion of Mr Boreham a hearty vote of thank* was passed to the Board, and the Commissioner acknowledged it.
