G g dam Curly, by Sir Colin Campbell (imported from Victoria by Fleming and Hedley in 1874), was one of the best brood mares in the Soutdern Hemisphere; 650 guineas were offered for the two-year old colt David Nesbitt, and 100 guineas paid for one of her fillies in 1880.

Breeders must see from this pedigree that William the Conqueror ia come from a grand line of draught stock, and cannot fail to be a success at the stud.
