OAMARU MARKET REPORT. The volume of business done this week has been small, local millers being out of the market for wheat in the meantime, and southern miliers a'so, according to all accounts, holding pufficitnt stocks for all requirements In fact, it is said that the inilU have bd'-n running for some time g-istir.g f t offal, and us stocks of flour arc now accumulating they are shutting d"Wn all round. That, however, is nut entirely correct about North Otago. About oats there is little interest manifested, and prices are quite unchanged, business being restricted to local hand to mouth teoiuirements. Potatoes improved somewhat in value early in the >veek in sympathy with the Dunedinmarket, still our only available export market, but on account of speculators thare showing a disposition io unload, prices are weaker again, and £4 10s on sidings, less commission, is the bast price obtainable. CHRISTCHUROH GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET. The markets are exceptionally quiet, chiefly because of there being so little grain or produce offering. There is still enquiry for wheat, mostly for the North Island, and prices are rather firmer, as offerings are very sparse. Oats are scarce, and there is, in consequence, rather more enquiry for feed barley. Malting barley has been enquired for during the week, bub there are few prime samples available. Buyers are, however, not inclined to give the prices ruling earlier in the season. Our Southland correspondent writes : —" Little or no business is doing in the oats market, and the current price remains, as for some tiire past, at 2s 3d at waysile stations, sacks extra. The Australian demand is limited, but as it is doubtful wha>, the spring threshing will produce, it is not expected that prices will be any easier at present. The only order in the market is that for South Alrica, and the oats are now being prepared for shipment this week. Shipment for the week have not been heavy, 500 sacks having been sen.t to Melbourne, and 900 sacks and 2000 bags to Sydney. ,■ The potato market in Sydney has firmed, private advices quoting £6 10s to £6lss. This has caused more local enquiry, and buyers are now offering £4, at country stations, but there are few sellers at this figure. Oatsheaf chaff is wanted, and is firm in price.
