THE BURNSIDE MARKET. Di/nedin, Octoder I, Cattle —140 head of fat cattle were yarded, nob sufficient for requirements, and values, especially of prime which were not numerous, were fully £1 per head above last week. The values today were the highest for years, cattle realising in more than one instance 40s per hundred pounds. Best bullocks, none of which were heavy, sold at £l2 to £l3 17s 6d, medium £9 to £ll ss ; light, £7 10a to £8 10s ; best cowa, £lO 10s to £l2 2« Bd, medium, £8 to £9 10s ; light, £5 10s to £7 10s. Sheep—Only 1376 fat sheep were penned. The demand was keen and a rise of fully 2s per head was recorded. The bulk were of medium to inferior quality, and a few pens of prime met with an exceptional demand. Best wethers sold at 21s to 255; medium, 18s to 20s ; light, 14s to 16a 6d ; best ewes, 18s to 20s 6d ; medium, 14s to 16s 6d ; light, 12s to 13s Gd. In lambs only nine ware penned, which sold at 11s to 18s 3d. Pigs—lßo pigs were yarded and met a good demand for porkers and baconers, but slips and suckers which formed the majority were difficult to quit. Suckers sold at 7s to 12s; slips, 13s; stores, 18s to 22s ; porkers, 28s to 375; baconers, 42s to 53s ; big pigs, 655. Wheat—Prime milling lines meet with fair inquiry. Medium is not in favour. Fowl wheat is in good demand. Prime milling is quoted at 3s lOd to 4s 2d ; medium, 3a 4d to 3s lOd; whole fowl feed, 3s to 3s 3d ; broken, 2s 6d to 3s, sacks extra. Oats—There is a fairly steady demand for shipment, though the amount of business has not been extensive. Prime milling finds more enquiry, but the demand for seed is practically over. Prime seed, 2s 8d to 2s lid ; milling, 2s 7d to 2g 8d ; good to best feed, 2s 5d to 2s 7d; inferior, to good, 2g to 2« sd, sacks extra. Barley—Quotations for malting arc practically, nominal. There is a good demaud for feed. Prime malting, 3s 3d to 4s; milling, 3s to 3s 2d; feed lines, 2s 6d to 2i 9d, sacks extra.
