TIMAKU MARKETS. There is very little, alteration in the market compared with last week, prices remaining about the same. For prims lines of wheat 4s 3d ia being offered, while second-class wheat ia quoted at 4s. Fowl wheat is selling from 2s 6d to 3s, according to sample. Oats are still about the same, and although the markcts, both north and s„uth, are firm, nothing is doing except for small orders, values being from 2? 2d to 2s 6d, according to sample. Feed barley is telling at 2s 9d f.0.b., at which prices buyers are willing to part. Potatoes are obtainable at country stations for £3 10s per ton, which is equal to £3 15s to £4 f.o.b. The demand for Sydney is fairly active. Herald. SATURDAY SALE. Messrs Guinness and LeOren, Ltd,, report as follows on their usual sale at auction on Saturday last Pigs.—Slips brought up to 9s, stores lie, one sow 295. Cattle—One springer £7 10s, one old cow £3 3s, one yearling heifer £1 15 s , three calves at 17s.
Poultry.—Hens from 2s 4d to 3s 2d per pair, roos'ers 2s to 6s per pair; turkey hens from 3s to 3« 9d, gobblers passed at 6s.
Potatoes.—Kidney seed from 4s 3d to ss, Derwent see- 1 6s to 5a 6d, best table Derwents 6s to 7s 3d, inferior from 4s. Other Produce—Swede turnips from Is 6d to 2s per bag, paramps 2s 6d, carrots 3s 9d, fowl wheat Ills.
OAMARU MARKET REPORT. September 13, The spurt given to the local market by the enquiries from the south of a fortnight ago for good milling wheat died away during this week, and little business bas been done, the feeling to day being slightly easier if anything. Fowl feed continues to attract attention at late rates. Oats may be described as lifeless. Feed barley is in demand at quotations. Potatoes have taken a sharp rise in the last fortnight in consequence of the exports from Dunedin and elsewhere, bob the supply in Canterbury is so large that doubts are entertained if the advance can be maintained. Interest will be centred on the Sydney market for sometime, and holders should watch reports from there. During the past few days sales have been made at £4 on trucks at sidings, and up to £4 5s in one or two cases, both prices being less commission, We quote for produce, ex store, sacks extra, ( xcept where otherwise stated. Wheat (new) Velvet and Tuscan,’ prime bright, 4s Id to 4s 2d ; good velvet and red chuff, 3s lid to 4s Id ; medium milling, 3s 8d to 3s lOd ; discoloured or damaged wheat foi fowl feed, 2s 8d to 2s lOd, and 3s for better qualities.
