Chri-tchorch, September 10. There were fair entries of all classes of stock and a good attendance. Sheep—The yarding of store sheep totalled 4750 and was made up almost entirely of hoggets and wethers. The demand was less keen than of late owing to feed not coming away as well as was expected, and a good many lines were passed. Tho chief sales were 205 halfbred wethers 14s 4d, 270 at 13s sd, 88 crossbred do 13s lOd, 70 at 12s lid, 105 at 12s 9d, 94 at 12s sd, 120 at lis 7d to 12s, 65 hoggets 12s id, 292 at 10a 2d, 650 at 9s lid, 56 at 9s 9d, 66 at 9s 6d, 339 at 8a Id, and small lots 7s 6d to 10s. There was a medium entry of fat sheep, the bulk being wethers, and many of the lines showed a want of finish, Cattle-In the fat cattle pens there was an entry of 156 head, and with the exception of a few pens of prime steers the quality was mixed. For good steers there was good competition at advanced prices, but secondary and inferior quality was irregular and easier. A line of 14 steers from Mr T. Chapman, Mcunt Palm, made £ll 10a to £ls 5s ; other steers £6 15s to £lllos and extra to £l3 ; heifers, £6 103 to £8 10s and extra to £9 7s 6d ; cows £4 173 6d to £9 15s, and extra good £lllos to £ll 15s, equal to 24a to 32s and up to- 55s for choice steers per 100 lb. A few head were bought for export to Sydney. THE ASHBUETON MARKET. Alhburton, September 9. There was a fair attendance at the Tinwald yards to-day, and a medium yarding of stock. As lambing has commenced the sheep pens were only about half filled. The sale was dragging aud several lines were passed. Sales were made aa follows r Store Cattle Springers, £6 5a to £8 ss; dairy cows, £5 to £6 ; steers, £5 7s 5d to £6 15s; heifers, £6 to £6l7s6d. Fat Sheep—Merino wethers, 8a 3d to 10s 4d; hoggets, Us 6d; crossbred wethers, 14s 7d to 15a 6d; crossbred ewes 8s 6d to 13s; freezing ewea and wethers, 12s 3d to 17a 3d; hoggets, lis sd. Store sheep, hoggets, 8s 5d to 10s sd; crossbred ewes in lamb, lis Id to 16s 6d ; aged do, 5s to 6s 6d ; merino ewes in lamb, 4s 2d; crossbred ewes with lambs at foot, all counted, 6a to 8s 4d ; forward wethers, lis lid. THE OAMARU MARKET. Milling wheat of first-class quality has been in strong demand by southern millers, who require it for mixing pur poses. Local millers continue to hold off and for other than the abeve the volume of businesa passing is not large. Prices for prime, bright velvet and Tuscan have advanced, and these are now worth 4s id to 4s 2d, ex store, and other grades have also a firmer feeling. Fowl wheat is still being exported to Dunedin at prices .up to 3«, ex store. Limited transactions are being made in oats at late rates, local hand-to-mouth requirements being the extent of the business. Potatoes are less plentiful than they have been, and are now worth £3 7s 7d at sidings. Wheat (new) Velvet.* and Tusc%n, prime bright, 4s id to 4. 2d ; good velvet and red chaff, 3s lid to 4s Id ; medium milling, 3s 8d to 3s lOd ; discoloured or damaged wheat for fowl feed, 2a 8d to J& lOd, and 3s better qualities. Oats—Danish, good 2» 3d to 2s id ; Gartona or ahorb feed, 2s 5d to 2« 6d; milling, 2s 6d; seed oats, 2s 7£d to 3a ; discoloured and damaged samples, 2s Birley—Prime malting, 3s to 3a 2d ; medium?2a 6d to 3« ; feed, 2a 3d to2a 6d.
