WAIMATE MARKETS. s. d. s. d Butter, wholesale 0 10 retail... I®Eggs M 0 6,, S SPECIAL CATTLE SALE. Messrs Guinness and LeCren, Ltd., report having held, at Studholme Junction saleyards yesterday, a special sale ot cattle. There was an exceptionally good yarding of over 400 head of cattle, for which the Saleyards Company had erected special yarding accommodation. There was a large attendance of buyers from Dunedin, Oamaru. Terauka, Geraldine, and Timaru, as well as local buyers, and the sale throughout was most successful. Messrs E. R. Guinness and A. H. Bourn officiated as auctioneers, and bidding was prompt fr u m start to finish. The firm were on many occasions during the sale complimented on their enterprise in inaugurating this sale, which was on ail aides admitted to be the most successful since the days of the old Waimate Estate’s annual sales, and it was hoped that the success ot this sale would result in many sales of the same class. At this sale there was very keen • competition for cattle of all ages, and practically a total clearance was effected.

THE BURNSIDE MARKET. i, Dunidin, September I. Cattle—l2l were yardsd, prices ruling * firm at last week’s rates. Best bullocks s brought £lO 10s to £l2, medium £9 10s to £lO ss, best cows and heifers £7 to £lO 10s, medium £6 15s. Shesp—The prices ruling were nn. changed ; best wethers fetching 18s 6d to 21s 3d, medium 16s to 18s, best ewes 15s to 16s Bd, medium 12s 6d to 14s 9d. 222 lambs were yarded, prices ruling about the same as last week, best np to 15s 3d, others 9a to Us 6d. Pigs—97 were penned, all sorts meeting with a very brisk demand. Suckers sold < at 13s to 1.65, slips 16s to 19s, stores 2os i to 24s 6d, porkers 28s te 395, baconers 42s to 525. i DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. Wheat—The tone of the market for all classes has slightly improved. Prime milling is quoted at 4s te 4s 4d, medium to good 3? 4d to 3a lOd, whole fowl wheat 3s Id to Bs 3d, broken and damaged 2s 9d to 3s; sacks extra. Oats—The demand for shipment is confined for the most part to sound bright lines. Seed lines are quoted at 3s ad to 2s lid, prime milling 2s 7d to 2s Bd, good to best feed 2s 5d to 2s 6£d, inferior lo medium 2a to 2s 4d; sacks extra. Barley—There is a moderate demand for prime malting lines. Medium quality is not much sought after. Prime milling is quoted at 8s 41 to 4s, medium and milling 3s to 8s 3d, feed 2t 6d to 3s. GERALDINE LIVE STOCK SALE. t Thera was a gojd attendance at the Geraldine live stock sale on Wednesday, when a good deal of stock changed hands * at satisfactory prices. There was an .
