Concert at Waituna.

i Friday night was tine, and the result was that the Waituna schoolroom was j packed ' o the doors on the occasion of i the annua concert in aid of tbe school I funds. There was a good contingent of audience and perfoimers from Waimate, and, w th local talent, an excellent pro gran mo , wfU given. The audience evidently appreciated it highly, judging by ihe frequency ol the encores. Following are the details Overture, Miss Hardy; song, “ A Soldier and a Mm,” Mr \V. J. Wills ; recitation, Mr Ha'chioson ; eon*;, “ Dear Little Shamrock,” Miss Merry ; song, “ Keep Your Powder Dry,” Mr T. Hardy ; song, “Doreen,” Miss M. Rattray ; recitation, Mr C. Dash ; cong, “Jessie’s Dream,” Miss Kent; song, “ Clara Nolan’s Ball,” Mr G. Miller; aorv, cunc, Mr Campbell ; hornpipe, Mr Rodgers. The second part opened with an overture by Miss Hardy, and the following items were successfully rendered Song, “ TheSe* is England’s Glory,” Mr W J. Wills ; song, “As Your Hair Grows Whiter,” Misa Merry; song, “ The Sleeping Camp,” Mr T. Hardy ; song, “ Barney O’Hea,” Misa M. Rattray; song, “ Sailing,” Mr G. Miller; recitation, “ Kissing Cup,” Mr Hutchinson. A vote of thanks to performers, chairman, and committee brought the proceedings to a close.

The room was then cleared for dancing, and, to the accompaniment of music by Messrs Wil on (violin) and Saunders (accordeon), this was cirried on till 3 am. The only drawback was that the room was uncomfortably crowded, but “ it is an ill wind that blows nowhere,” as the n gger rem irned, and thii would be a source of pleasure to the school committee. Refreshments were handed round at intervals, and Mr Felix Andrews made a capital M.C.
