The second round of the South Canterbury Rugby Union fixtures commences to-morrow, when Waimate I. play Geraldine I. on the Athletic Grounds, Timaru. As these teams have not met before this season au interesting game is predicted. The following are the teams : Waimate, Hunt, Rattray (3), J. Rogers, Glendinning, Rout, Flynn, Goldstone, McLeish, Butcher, Finn, Drayton, Flaherty and Williams. Geraldine. Earl, Kennedy (2), Dean (2), Martin, Joe, Brain, Bourn, Henderson, McLean, Blissett, Stringer, Austin and Mulhern.
Members of the local team are requested to be at the Union Bank corner at 10.45 sharp. THE RUGBY UNION. Wellington, July 1. At a meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night it was resolved to reimpese the penalty for lifting foot in the scrum before the ball is put in. It was resolved to resuscitate the North and South Island match, to be played alternately at different centres, this year’s game to be in in Wellington.
