PLEASANT POINT STOCK SALE. There was a yarding ot about 3000 sheep at the Point sale on Tuesday. Fat ewes ipet with a drop of aboqt la to la 6d on the last sale and good hoggets met with a poor demand, There was a heavy yarding of cattle which met with a very irregular sale* Quo ations were as follows ;—Fat ewee, 7s fid, 9s 6d to 11s; a fine line of 4-tooth ewes in lamb, 13a ; full-mouthed ewes, 9a bd ; store hoggets from 7s to 8s 2d; fat and forward wethers, 13s lOd to 14s backward wethers 10a 2d* Cattle—Springers, £4 10s to £5 ; steers, £4, £4 10a to £5 10s ; 2-year old heifers, £3 9s; cows £3 2s; bullocks, £7 4s; store cows, £2 10s; 18-montha’ old steers and heifers, £2 13s fid : calves. 325. The entry of stock in all departments was poor and the attendance was small. ’ Oattle.—A medium supply of fat Cattle came to hand, for which competition, except for the best sorts, was restricted. Prime quality beef made from 17s bd to 22S fid per 100'b; secondary, Iga 6d to 17s. Sheep.—One of the smallest entries on record was yarded. The demand for all sorts was decidedly weak,- and reductions in values bad to be accepted to effect sales. Prime freezing wethers made from 15a to 18s fid, fat owes from 12a 6d to 14s 6d, and medium sorts 8a fid to 9a 9d. There was little competition for any sorts of store sheep. A few lambs sold from fis (kl to 7a 6d ; wethirs made up to 8i fid, and ewes from 6s to Bs. Pigs : There was a medium entry of baooners and pr-rke s. AH good sorts came in fur a fair demand. .[Leonora were strong at from 3sd to 3|J, arid porkers realised from 2jd to 4d.
Ashburton, June 24 Heavy rain made the Ashburton yards very unpleasant and stock did nob show of advantage. There was a small entry of sheep. The yarding of cattle was'large beef selling fairly well. The followings are* some of the prices Fab cattle, heifers from £4 2s 6d to £7 17s 6d, cows from £4lO to £8 5a ; steers from £5 7s 6d to £6 5», dairy cows from £6 17s 6d to £7 15; 36 head mixed store cattle were were passed in at £5 2s 6d. Fat sheep, merino ewes fro n 4s 4d to 7s 9d, cross-bred wethers from 13s 6d to 18s 4d, crossbred ewes from 7s 6d to 12 lid, freezing lambs from lls 91 to 13s 4d ; store sheep, hoggets 7s Id to Bs, merino wethers 3s, forward wethers 9s lid to 13s Id, crossbred ewes 6s 9 1.
