Presentation.

—o —— At a meeting of the Hibernian Society on Monday night Father O'Connell, retiring president, was presented with a handsome travelling bag by the Society. After the Rev. Father Regnanlt addressed those present, Mr Twomey in a few appropriate remarks made the presentation. Mr Harris said that to the Rev. Father O’Conoel, was due the credit of placing the Society in its present healthy condition. He congratulated the Society in choosing for its president the rev. gentleman. It had bean fortunate in this, as his untiring energy in anything he undertakes is a guarat tee of success. Mr Harris went on to urge members of the Society to attend meetings regularly, for by so doing they would be educating themselves to be fib members of the great church to which they belonged and would also be making ihemselvos efficient in being able to conduct the 'political affairs of the country in which they lived. (Applaua?.) The "Rov. Father O’Connell on rising was received with applause. In returning thanks he spoke at length and said that whatever he had done lor the Socie'y had been done in the interests of church and country. A pleasant evening was brought to a close with a vote of thanks to the rev. chairman. ■f
