Bands of Hope.
There was a good attendance at the Waimata Wesleyan Han I of Hope meeting on Tuesday evening, the Eav. W. Tinsley presiding. The programme was varied and interesting, c insisting of recitations I>y Hilda Ghyton, Willie Fagan and Harry Fagan, and solos by Misses Williams and Goldsmith and Mr A. Hiker. Mrs Dowle acted a? accompanist. The chairman's remarks were a feature of the programme A dialogue entitled .Safe .Medicines ” was a local production in which the parts were sustained hy Mr ana Mrs Geo. Dash, Misses Strong, Williams, K. "Welch and K. Baker. This proved a very interesting and instructive item, the participants deserving credit for their excellent performance. The calling of the roll by the secretary, Mr Kirckaldy, showed that the membership steadily increases. MORVEN. The monthly meeting of this Band of Hope was held in the Schoolroom on Thursday evening, when there was a large attendance. The chair was occupied by the president, who gratified the audience by the announcement that the programme was mainly in the bands of friends from Hnkuroa. -lifter the meeting had been opened in the usual way a chorus was given by Misses Low and Roberta and Messrs Roberts and Dobrmann, other items being a recitation by Mr James Peck, a solo by Miss Low, a reading by Mr Dash, aad a duet by Mr and Miss Roberts. A splendid short address was given by the Rev. Watt, who later convulsed the audience with a Mark Twain recitation. Mr, Dohrmann’s song and a Temperance text book lesson by Mr Dash were followed by a hearty vote of thanks to the visitors. A most enjoyable meeting concluding with a, verse of “ God be with you till we meet again,”
WAITUNA.
On Thursday evening an audience of from sixty to seventy persons assembled in the schoolroom for the monthly hand of hope meeting. The President occupied the chair and called for songs from Misses Meyers, Buckingham, and Mary Buckingham ; recitations from Misses Josephine Boyce, Mabel Nowton and Sarah Boyoe, which were given in pleasing style, The Rev. W. Tinsley addressed the meeting and was closely followed. Mr Kirckaldy gave a temperance lesson in an instructive manner, concluding an interesting meeting with the Benediction.
