News of Peace having been declared was rather late in getting here, it being about 1.30 p.m. when word was received at our local post offica on Monday. 2nd. It was then sent on to the school, and after singing the National Anthem and cheering with great gusto the children were granted a holiday for the rest of the day and the day following. The Hunter School Committee met on Monday evening; present, Messrs Keloher (chair), Shaw, and Engelbreoht. After a few moments'- consultation it was decided to adjourn the meeting till Monday, the 9th, on account of the proclamation of Peace. On Tuesday last, the 3rd mat, during library hours (7,30 to 10 p.m.), the library Hall Building Committee met ; present. Messrs Shaw (chair), Engelbreoht (-ecretary}, Kelcher, Mercer, Qibson, Coate* Awrstroog, and Misses* Cartwrighb and Jackson.
