THE BURNSIDE MARKET. Dunedin, May 28. Cattle. —At Burni-ide market 287 head of fat cattle were yarded. Prices ruled slightly easier. Best bullocks bmus/ht lo £lO 12s 6d, medium £7 -3s lo £8 13s, best cows and heifers £7 to £7 15s. medium £5 5s to £3 17s 6d, old cows £3 15s to £5 10s. Sheep.—Of fat sheep 2638 were penned. Prices ruled towaids the close rather better than last week. Best wethers brought 15s 6d to 17s 6d, extra 18s 9d, medium 13s to 15s 6d, best ewes 16s to 16s, medium 10s to 14s, old 8s to 9s 6d. Of lambs 635 were penned. Beat lambs brought 11s to 12s Od, medium 9s Gd to 10s 9d. Pigs.—l9l pigs were forward, all except porkers and baconers being almost unsaleable. Suckers brought 2s 6d to 5s 6d, slips 7- to 11s, stores 12t to 16s, porkers 20s to 335, baconers 36s to 50 s. 'DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. Wheat.—There is a moderate demand for milling, but only boat samples are wanted. Good whole fowl wheat meets with fair demand. Prime milling is quoti <1 at 4s to 4s 3 me lium 3s 4<J to 3s 10d, whole fowl feed 3a Id to 3a 3d broken and damaged 2a 8d to 3s, sacks exit a. Oats.—There is good enquiry for all prune milling tim-s, while seed is receiving] some attention. Medium and inferior have not much attention. Seed liro-.a are quoted at 2a 8d to 2s lOd, prime 2.i 7d to 2s 7-Ad, good t<> but feed 2a 3A<l to 2s Gjd, inferior and medium 2s 21 to 2s 41jd ; sacks extra. Barley. Prime malting meets with good demand. Medium ia not readily sold, but feed and milling are saleable. Prime malting is quoted at 3a 6d to 4s. medium 3s 3d to 3s Id, teed and milling 2- 6 1 to 2s lid ; sacks extra.
GEEALDINE LIVE STOCK SALE. There was a good attendance at the Geraldine live stock sale ycster iay when there was an entry conipri-diig about *IQOO sheep, 3-5 head of cattle, anti "28 pig*. A'! good strong wethers or hoggets and young ewes so d well, but the sale was slow for aged ewes out of condition. Old ( wes sold at 4s lid, 5* lid and Os 8d ; fat ewes f)s, 9s 6 1,10 s, 10s 2d, 10s 6i, 10s 8d and 11s 4d.
