Studholme Mounted Rifles.
0 FIRST ANNUAL SOCIAL. The first, annual social of the Studholme Mounted Rifles was held on Thursday evening in the Oddfellows’ Hall, which was very nicely decorated for the occasion with flags and evergreens. A good deal of trouble had been expended on the floor, which was in excellent order. Capts. Garland (S.M.R.), Barclay (Waimatc Rifles), Coltman (Reserve) and Lieuts. Studholme and Fisher were present. There was a good turnout of the B Studholme Mounted Rifles and many of the Waimate Rifles were present in uniform. The Grand March was led oh by (’apt, Gailand and Mrs Coltman, about (50 couples taking part. Miss Gaitt (piano) and Mr Langdown (violin) provided music perfect in time and tune, and under these conditions the dance could rot fail to be enjoyed. Corpl. W. Lindsay made a capable M.C. The supper was laid in a marquee at the side of the Hall and reached by a covered way from the door. Messrs Mitchell and Crawford catered and must be complimented on their excellent display. No trouble was spared to please. The dance broke up at 3 a.m.
