A meet ing of the committee appointed at Bournemouth to arrange a match with the Australians resolved that owing to the unsatisfactory manner in which the negotiations are being conducted by the Australians, and the impossibility of fixing a suitable elate, the match should be abandoned. The amount required by the Australians as a guarantee had been already promised. Christchurch, May 26. At a meeting of the Cricket Council, the secretary reported that guarantees had been received from nearly all the Associations for a visit from Lord Hawke’s team. Some of the letters conveying the impression that one or two associations were not clear regarding the exact terms of the guarantee, it was decided that a copy of the resolutions carried at last meeting giving the terms be sent to each association. It was resolved that a match be arranged for Lord Hawke’s team at South Canterbury provided the necessary guarantee is forthcoming.
