The Mistress ( entering the kitchen) “ Jane, didn’t I hear a dish break a minute ago ? ” The Maid : “I hope you did, mem it made noise enough. If you hadn’t heard it I should have thought you were getting deaf, 'and that, you \aow would be awful ! ”
