AMENDMENT OF WATER RACE BY - LAW.

■pUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given in pursuance of the powers and provisions contained in “ The Counties Act, 1886,’’ “ The Water Supply Act, 1891 ’’ and “ The Water Supply Act Amendment Act, 1898,” that under and by virtue of the said powers and provisions a resolution' was adopted by the Waimate County Council on the 30lh day of April, 1902, to make by special order to take effect from the date of the confirming of the said resolution a By-law to come into force on the 23rd day of June, 1902, the object or purport whereof i& as follows, that is to say :—To repeal Section 4 of By-law No. 1 of Water Race By-laws of the said County providing for payment in respect of lands within Water Supply District as therein set forth of annual rates or charges for water supplied as follows : In the Lower Waihao Water Supply District an annual charge of lid in the T upon the rateable value of all such lands as aforesaid. In the Lower Pareora Water Supply District an annual charge of lid in the T on the rateable value of all such lands as | aforesaid. And to substitute a proI vision in lieu thereof for payment in respect of all such lands as aforesaid of an annual rate or charge for water supplied of six pence per acre upon all such lands as aforesaid within each Water Supply District within the County of Waimate. And also to repeal Section 6 of the said By-law No 1 providing for payment of the -rates or charges thereunder on the First day of May in each year in manner there provided and to substitute therefor a provision that the rate or charge to be payable under the said proposed Bylaw, shall be payable in like manner and on the said Ist day of May in each year, but with a proviso that the first payment thereof shall be made on the 9th day of July, 1902. And I further give notice that the meeting at which it is proposed to confirm such resolution will be hold on the 4th day of June, 1902, and that a copy of the said proposed special order and By-law is deposited at the office of the Waimate County Council at Waimate, and will be open for inspection to the public during office hours from this dace until the day of the said meeting.
