Waimate Workers' Union.
The following is a full text of the Waitnate Workers' Union's demands on millowners, and a vote of members will- bo taken on the proposals at once: —(1) That the system of paying mill employees at per 1000 be changed and the system of paying at' per hour be substituted thorefor; (2) that the hours of labour shall be left to the discretion of mill-owners so long as they do not require employees to work by lamp or other artificial light; (3.) that all employees on or about a mill shall be paid at the rate of half time for shifting the mill from stack to stack or from camp to camp ; (4) that all threshing-mill owners in the industrial district of Canterbury working a threshing mill in the said industrial district at the time this award is granted by tho Court of Arbitration,- or any threshing-mill owner or owners who may subsequent .to the granting of this award enter into the aforesaid industrial district for the purpose of working a threshing mill, shall pay the feeder Is 6d per hour and all other men employed on or about a threshing mill (the driver excepted) Is per hour, and in addition shall provide the mill employees with good wholesome food free of charge ; (5) that three men shall be employed at the bags at all mills; (6) members of any union to have preference of employment,
