Wellington, April 16

Sir J. G. Ward has received the foliowing cable message from Major Pilcher, Capetown, dated 14th inst.: —Colonel Davis wires that the principal medical officer at Potchefstroom reports re the men injured in the railway accident that Whitehead and Pearson are dangerously ill; Lee, Grant, and Whetter, seriously. The others have greatly improved. Thirteen men were killed, and were buried at Klerksdorp yesterday (Sunday). It was a very large military funeral, and ,was ■ attended by the Seaforths, Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders, Royal Artillery, South Welsh Borderers, Commonwealth .and. New .Zealand Brigade; ; also hundreds oi: civilians. Great sympathy was shown by everyone. The troopship Norfolk, - which will take the South Island battalion af the Tenth Contingent to Durban, arrived this afternoon from Brisbane. It is expected, that she will proceed to Lyttelton to-morrow.
