A large proportion of the sheep entries were made up of store lambs, of which the supply .vas much in excess O' the demand. Tae wet weather and the scarcity of stubbie feed bad a depressing effect on the market, and sales Were difficult to effect at anything like late rates Sheep—Pat 2-tooths 13s 6d, fat ewes c 11s to 9s 6d, 2-’ooth crossbred ewes and wethers lls lOd, 11s 4d to 10s 6d, forward conditioned merino wethers 3j 3d, good rape lambs, a nice pen from Mr 1 J. Brownlee topped the market at 10s 8d and a good line from the Waihaorunga Estate went from 10s6d to 8s 81, other lambs sold at 8s lOd, 7s 7d, 7s 6d to 6s 6d. Cattle —Fat 3 year old heifers (light weights) £Oj fat cows £5 15s to £5, fat 3 year steers (light) £5 2s 6d, forward 4 yo<>r steer £6, 3 year steers £3 17» 6d, springing cows £5 IQs to £4 15s, cuves 5s 6d.

THE BURNSIDE MARKET. DUNEDIN, February 12, The allround yarding at Burnside was one of the heaviest, particularly in cattie, put forward for a considerable time. Two hundred and thirty-seven head of far. cattle were yarded, a large proportion of which could only bo classed as good forward cattle. Prime lots met with fairly good competition, and sold as about equal to last week’s rates, but oth**r sorts were hard to quit at a re luction of from 10s to 16s per head. Prime ox beef 23s 6*d to 25s per 1001 b, good ox beef 22s to 235, prime cow and heifer b’ef, 20a to 21s, good cow and heifer beef 18s »o 19s. Sheep—Of fat sheep 1869 were penned, I consisting principally of old owes.
