The Eighth Contingent.

It is understood that Captain R. Heaton Rhodes, of the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, and M.H.11. for Ellesmere, has obtained a commission, and will probably go with either tha Eighth or Ninth Contingent to South Africa. His constituents are quite prepared to allow him to go without forfeiting hia seat. Wellington, January 25.
The captains of squadrons of the Eighth Contingent are .’—North Island —Captains Cameron, Spmmorville, Seddon, and Saxby ; South IslandCaptains Fook, Colbeck, and Montgomery, and either Captain Rhodes, M.H.R., or Lieut. Collett by promotion.
Captain Jackson Palmer, M.H.E. ? ' has applied for a commission in the Ninth Contingent,
