ADDINGTON MARKETS. [By Telegraph.] Chmstchorch, January 23. There was a fairly large entry of stock in the yards to day and a good attendance. . Sheep—The yarding of store sheep numbered 6665, or about 600 more than last week, the bulk being lambs. The dry "weather evidently affected the demand and prices were easier. Good breeding ewes sold very well, as did the more forward lambs, but backward sorts were more difficult to place. The chief sales were 304 lambs at 10s 9d; 106 at 9s 9d s 450 at 9s sd; 1100 at 8s 7d ; 111 at 8a 7d ; 244 at 8s 3d; 100 at 7b ; and smaller lots 7s 3d to 10a Bd. A line of 1300 were passed at 8$ 9d. 177 two and four tooth ewes 18s 7d: 129 six tooth 13a 3d; 500 sound mouth 12s ; 193 four tooth lis 9d; ernsll lotfl of two tooth wethers 10a lid to 12s Id. There was a very large entry of fat lambs, the greater proportion of which were not well finished. The good priaes now vruling oomhihed with the dry weather are evidently baaking farmers anxious to take advantage of the market. As bj»befdre been jointed out, however, raW oamSoiTbe expected, except for prime freezing lines, unfinished lots not making much above forward store prices. The market opened rather slacker than last week, even the best lambs showing a slight decline, while others suffered still mo • !a price. Tnere was a moderate yo ding of fat sheep, and the quality was moauy .medium. ""•,"'' .^ Cattle.—ln the fat cattle pens 166 head were offered, a fair proportion being prime quality storeß. The very slack, a number of pens being passed, bat prices were finally established, on the basis of last week's rates. Steers made JE6 12s 6d toJE9I2B 6d, and two extra iSll; Heifers, £5 5s to £& sa; cows, £5 6s to £l los, equal to 17s to 25s per 1001 b according to quality. ■ >"" Pigs.—There was an average yarding of -all classes of pigs except baoonari, whloh were in gtttor abort
supply. The latter were, however, not much in demand and showed a decline in values, but porkers made last week's rates, and there was again i good enquiry for stores, about sixty large sorts being bought for the Peninsula. Baconera made 33s to 455, equal to 3£d per lb ; porkers, 29s to 30s, equal to Bfd ; large stores, 15s to 23s 6d; smaller, 10s 6d to 14s, and suckers and weaners, 5s to 7s 6d.
