In fat lambs 1518 were penned, and mat a better enquiry : 1000 for export sold at 12s 6d to 14s 4d, others to butchers 11s to 15s lOd. The store sheep numbered 2976, mostly wethand there was a better demand for all sorts. Wethers sold at lls 4d to 12s 41. hoggets 8s 4d, ewes and lambs Cs to 9; 2d (all counted). Pigs.—3so pigs were penned. There was a moderate demand for fats, and a good sa’e for stores, Baconers sold at 32s 6d to 44s 6d, and up to 50s, porkers 9Zb to 30s, stores 14s t j 245, weaners 8s 10s.
THE BURNSIDE MARKET. Dunedin, December Cattle.—l3s head of fat cattle were yarded, ranging from good to prime. Bidding was slow, and last week's prices were barely maintained. Best bullocks sold at from £9 to £lO, extra prime £lO 10s lo £ll ss, medium £7 15s to £8 12s light £6 to £7 10s, best cows and heife a£3 5-to £9 ss, medium to good £0 7s to £7 17 j 6d, light ami aged £3 10a to £3 17a (id. Sheep.—On'y 1241 fat sheep, wore penned, nearly all sho-n. There was a fair demand for prime wethers at about last week’s rates. Butchers’ sheep suf ered a drop. Bst crossbred wethers, shorn, sold at 15- to 15 1 6d, med-uin *o good 12s to 14 -, best ewes 12s 6d to 14s 3 I, medium 9s to lls, light 6s to 8i 61, a few crossbred wethers in the vo.-ol 16s 6 1 to 16s 9d. DUNEDIN GRAIN MARKET. Wheat.—There is t o lemand for raillin» wheat beyond an occasional enquiry for prims velvet. Fowls’ wheat is scarce and fetches prices almost up to milling. Prime milling ia quoted at 3s tubs 11, medium 2s lOd to 3s. inferior 2s 6d to 2s 9d, sicks in. Oat?. —A fair demand exists for oats, and all coming forward are placed. Prime milling ts quoted at 2s to 2s sd, best bright short feed 2s 4d to 2s 4Jd medium 2s 2d to 2s 3d, sacks extra. Barley.—An improvement in demand is now noticeable.
