The Holiday.
Monday next, December 16th, is the 'fifty-first anniversary of the Province ■ of Canterbury, and it is being observed as a holiday in Waimate. Various attractions offer themselves to holiday makers. 'Tho Church of England "Sunday School are going out to Waihao -Dawns by special train, and the Presbyterian Bundny School are holding their annual picnic in Knot- : tingly Park. The Waiuiato Cricket Club hold a ; match on that day, and the Waimate Kifles send a team to Timaru to try •conclusions with the Timaru Jtifles. At Morven a sports meeting for the Waihao district will be held. The programme is an excellent one of twenty events'besides children's races, and includes races for horses in •addition to the usual foot races. Keen. 'interest is being taken in the sports, ■" and a record attendance for Morven is 'certain.
