HOW TO END THE WAR.
Dr Conon Doyle has given a prescription for ibe speedy ending of the war which has frequently been suggested Joy those of us who have confidence in colonial troops and oolonial me hods. We should, he says, strike at the head and o-tpture ttte Boar Governments. "One should choose 3009 of the lightest and hardiest men in ihe army, give them 6000 of the best horse-i, one led horse for •very man; no guns, a>> and a young leader, Plumer or De Li3le fur choice. Let them l<x>ie with a frae hand, and help them by otoppin- thd drifwj: Ixtt them fallow their ohise ac.o« Attio* if necessary, bat let them ride it down at last. When once we had the Governments there would be some ch«noe of peace."
