A DENIAL.
TO THIS EDITOR. Sir, —fn ynm- issue of the 31st, there appeared an account of the Wailcakahi Settlers meeting. You report a mol ion put forward by Messrs Duke and Corrigan, asking the President fo resign his portion asChairmanoftin-Partners’ U-u'ou. I m<tst emphatioallydeny tli it I ever favoured such a motion, as 1 have always advocated tho Union. I think it most necessary that the fanners uuito to protect their own interests. I also wish it in ido clear that I am in favour of small grazing runs held under the Laud for Settlement Act getting the rebate, as I think they are justly entitled to it, and that I advocated the same at the Union conference held in Ashburton. Hoping you will give this publication, and thanking you fur space, — I urn, etc.,
M. J. CORRIGAN. [Our correspondent makes a mistake ; we gave no such report.—Ed. W.A.]
