Tjw wheat has' Cor the most.part been purchased for shipment. CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN MARKETS. There has been some enquiry for whe*t for export this week, and some 5000 sacks, principally Tu-on, has been purchased at 2a 7d f.o.b. for shipment by the Indralama next week. This bein« the last direct steamer carrying wheat at ihe 15s freight the sales quoted above cannot betaken as 1 the nominal value of wheat, 2s 6d f.o.b. being the outside price that millers, who are the only buyers in, the marker, will give. One firm reports that a fair quantity of oats have been offering, and were taken at prices equal to quotations, but generally it is stated that offerings are very scarce. The Agapantous is uow at Oamarn taking in part of her cargo for South Africa, and will complete her loading at Lyttelton. The potato market'is a trifle firmer, consequent upon the price keeping up in Sydney, £3 5s to £3 10a at country stations being offered. Owing to the large quantities going to Sydney on consignment on account, merchants are fimlii.g a difficulty in effecting sales from this end, and are consequently not very keen to buy. A fairly large quantity is being shipped this week, pi incipally on growers' account. Oatsheaf chaff is plentiful, but is not in much demand, except a moderate quantity for shipment to the North Island a»d Wf.st Coast.
