Despite a heavy hailstorm and a oold dark night, about forty persons gathered in the Makikihi aohoofroom last Thursday night for the purpose of welcomiog Mr and Mrs Goodall back. The Bsy. G. Pongs were given by Missts Cartwrtght, M liwrick, and Messrs Coaws, Shaw. Goodall, and Buchanan ; a duet by Mr and Mrs Goodall; a humorous speech by Mr Heatley. After the concert part, Mr Meehan on behalf of the subscribers, presente 1 Mr Goodall with a well-filled purse of sovereigns as a tangible token of the respect ha i« held in. He expressed sympathy with Mr Goodall in his reoent illness, and assured him that th-y were all pleased to have him back s« muoh improved in health, Mr Goodall, in replying, said tLi-.t_.it required no snoh gathering to let him know their feelings towards him. He thanked them for all their past kindness, and for the present thsy had jutt given him. He hoped that bis future aotions would be deserving of their respect. The audience then sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow," and three cheers were given for Mr and Mrs Good+ll, Refreshments went handed round, and a pleasant evening broke up with " Auld Lang Syne." I
